A Hope Chest of Light Keeping

Cookies

I watched Mom kneed cookie dough for the first time this season and I snuck pieces of it when she wasn’t looking. I sat right there a the kitchen table awaiting scraps like a little dog. My cold is settling in my ears but I did take my coloring book down from my shelf while John slept next to me.

We did face masks and read books, we’ve snacked on cookies while watching netflix. We’ve snuggled and napped. We’ve had chicken for dinner and bacon for breakfast. We’ve made the most of being together around my family. It’s not easy to date with so many pairs of eyes on you, but you feel like home so I can’t complain.

You feel like home and as each day goes by, I realize you just might be.
