Before there was: “meandyou.”
There was…me.
And there was…you.
And then we were “US”
(which felt bigger than two)
Though now I’m just me.
And you are just you.
It seems rather strange,
(Now that we are through)
That I care for me,
More than I care for you.
The “And” in the middle
Was important, it’s true,
But it’s neat to be me,
Not needing the you.
